Identification Surgery

There are at the present several excellent websites where readers send in images of unidentified insects that are discussed under the framework of a forum. At Enterprise io we shall be doing something similar but with one major difference in that we have a team of volunteer experts on hand to help (see the page 'About Enterprise io: our Team of Experts'. All of us are specialists in our particular fields, many have a broad knowledge of entomological taxonomy and if we can't identify something for you ourselves, we probably know someone that can!

For security reasons we are reluctant to allow material from outside to be placed directly onto the website. Therefore we prefer that photographs be sent to us by e-mail and we will post them up ourselves. As soon as we receive an image it will be placed on the Identification Surgery gallery and also sent to our appropriate specialist. This way we have the best of both worlds - expert help and the wonderful friendly competition of the forum format. Try to beat the 'experts'. On your marks, get set.Go!

If you have heard about this service from a friend but do not have access to the internet yourself we shall be happy to receive photographic prints by post providing the appropriate re-imbursement is included for our reply. We are also able to deal with preserved specimens but prior arrangement for this is essential. A crate of microscopic soil invertebrates in tubes of alcohol landing unexpectedly on our doormat is the last thing we need on a Monday morning!
